A pole display is connected to the host POS computer and conveniently communicates the transaction total to the customer. Two main types of customer displays exist on the market today, the pole-mount display and the counter-mount display.

Most pole mounted customer displays offer the flexibilty of adjustable-angle and/or rotating display heads and come in a variety of lengths. The counter-mount customer display is great for tall counters where a fixed mount with limited or no adjustability are acceptable. Most pole displays support multiple software emulations, but be sure to check with your POS software manufacturer to make sure the software is compatible with the pole display you intend to buy.

Pole Display Manufacturers

Like their popular receipt printer line, Epson pole display accommodates a full range of point-of-sale needs with the DM-D customer display series. Besides supporting a variety of connectivity scenarios, each Epson pole display delivers data in real-time from the host POS system, improving transaction processing speed and improving customer service.

The market-leading Logic Controls pole display comes in a variety of styles such as double-sided, table-top and traditional pole-mount options. Every Logic Controls pole display includes the added functionality of a built-in real-time clock, text scrolling and user-definable characters - qualities not found as standard options among competing POS pole displays.

The PartnerTech pole display product line introduces a variety of versatile customer display options for the POS market. From advanced double-sided VFD displays to entry-level LED and LCD units, Partner Tech pole displays offer graphical functionality and easy integration into new or exiting POS systems.

Posiflex pole display includes both general purpose and industrial-grade models for integration into any POS system. Bright VF displays and sturdy bases are qualities found in every Posilflex pole display.

The POS-X pole display line includes the space-efficient, attractively designed Xp8000 models. All POS-X pole displays sport bright, adjustable VF screens with 2-line, 20-character display capacity. With 9 standard display emulations, compatibility with existing POS systems is virtually effortless.

Most pole displays connect directly to a serial port and only require the correct serial port (COM) to be selected in point of sale software in order to work. Even USB pole displays will create their own "virtual" COM port to communicate with your software.
