The Panasonic Lite-ray was designed based on the Stingray POS terminal, with a few key differences. The Lite-ray POS computer is fanless, supports multiple 2.5 inch hard drive configurations (HDD or SDD) and is Energy Star qualified. Using Energy Star qualified products saves businesses money by reducing power costs and helps to preserve the environment by reducing energy consumption. Intended to be used in demanding environments, the Lite-ray casing is sealed to resist spills, dust, static, shock, dirt and extreme humidity and temperatures.
The Lite-ray sports a 15 inch resistive touchscreen which can be operated even if users are wearing gloves and its surface is coated with an antiglare surface treatment to make prolonged use more comfortable. Its Intel Atom Processor and 2.5 inch hard drives handle most POS software. Lite-ray supports MS Windows including both standard and embedded platforms along with Linux.
